THE WORD FOR TODAY - REACH OUT WITH HUMILITY

"Don't be selfish; don't try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves. Don't look out only for your own interests, but take an interest in others, too."
-Philippians 2:3-4 (NLT)

It has been said many times, that the natural human nature is selfish; however this nature ought to have died with our old self, but often times we still struggle to be selfless as our text admonishes us to do today. We ought to constantly check our motives for whatever we are doing, some people even do good things with the wrong motives (vain conceit), just for others to see and acknowledge their deed. The bible even says that our left hand ought not to know what our right is doing, (Matthew 6:3) in other words, whatever we do, should be done to and for the glory of God alone, and God who sees what is done in secret will reward accordingly. Selflessness can however only come from a humble heart, because you'll realize, that it is God that brought you to wherever you are and it's not by your own power or any other human being's help, and therefore, you are willing to help others. We need to constantly humble ourselves under the Almighty hand of God, and not allow anything, be it, our education, wealth, intellect, social status or even ministerial status, blind our minds in such a way that we begin to look down on others and feel that we are 'not in the same class' with them. It is only to God that the whole earth and heaven belongs and He has promised to bless those who have humble hearts. Isaiah 66:2, "My hands have made both heaven and earth; they and everything in them are mine. I, the Lord, have spoken! "I will bless those who have humble and contrite hearts, who tremble at my word."Make up your mind to treat everyone around with respect and dignity and decide to serve others selflessly and watch God bless and increase you on every side.
Have a great week ahead

Confession

I will walk in humility of heart, and will not look only to my own interests, but also to the interests of others. Halleluyah!
